So, if you are still wondering whether you should go to Morocco or not, here are 12 reasons you should.

Reason One: Delicious Food

The fact that Morocco is located just below the Mediterranean Sea means that it has a similar type of cuisine to Greece, Italy and Spain. Some say the best fruit in the world can be found in Morocco – from cherries, dates and figs to oranges and peaches. You could also try a cactus fruit – which tastes like a mix between watermelon and passionfruit.

Olive oil is abundant in Morocco and you will probably find it in most dishes. You can also buy the most flavourful olives from the street markets – always a fun experience.

Some traditional Moroccan dishes include omelettes served with bread and olive oil, fresh grilled sardines served near the ocean, couscous served with meat or roasted vegetables. Food tends to be flavoured with lots of fresh herbs and spices too such as cumin and turmeric.

Reason Two: Mint Tea

Drinking mint tea is a daily occurrence in Morocco. This fresh-tasting drink consists of hot water, fresh mint leaves and sugar steeped in a silver pot and served in glasses.

You will probably be offered this drink in shops or when visiting someone – as it is a sign of hospitality.

Reason Three: Shopping

There are many traditional Moroccan crafts such as delicately painted ceramics, hand woven rugs from the mountains, and jewelled gowns and shoes – all perfect as souvenirs of your Moroccan trip.

Many of our tours include a trip to the Souk, the traditional Moroccan markets, that sell lots of local stuff including some amazing natural presents such as dried flowers, herbs and spices.

Reason Four: The Ocean

Some of the most popular seaside towns in Morocco include Agadir, Essaouira, Mirleft, Safi and Taghouzet – which are perfect places to soak, swim and surf. You’ll find a warm welcome from the locals, and a relaxed vibe. Make sure you don’t miss out on tasting some of the delicious seafood.

Reason Five: An insight into Islam

The main religion in Morocco is Islam and it is easy to see many Islamic traditions in day-to-day life. The Muslim place of worship, the Mosque, can be found in most towns – from simple ones in small towns to magnificent ones in the big cities.   Non-Muslims are not allowed to enter Mosques, so if you are not a Muslim you will have to admire them from the outside.

Reason Six: Affordability

Morocco is a great place to travel on a budget as the cost of living is quite cheap. Even in nice restaurants you can get a decent meal for around £25, and a cheap local restaurant will serve meals from about £2. Produce from the street markets can be even cheaper.

Reason Seven: The Sahara Desert

Morocco is a great place for venturing into the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert and our desert tours are the perfect way to experience them. You will need to be prepared for the intense heat, though, which can reach up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit in Summer.

Reason Eight: Rugged Mountain Ranges

There are two major mountain ranges in Morocco – the Atlas Mountains that stretch through the middle of the country and the Rif mountains in the North. There are plenty of hiking and trekking opportunities for tourists, but you can also visit local villages such as Chefchaouan and Imlil.

Reason Nine: Architecture

The architecture in Morocco is so awe-inspiring that you will want to take photos everywhere you turn. You will often see mosaics made of smooth little tiles and lots of the buildings are made from red clay, especially in the desert and mountain areas.

Reason Ten: Sensory Rollercoaster

A trip to Morocco is truly a rollercoaster for the senses, with colours, sights and sounds cluttering your mind everywhere you go.

Reason Eleven: Cats

If you are a cat lover then a trip to Morocco is a must.

There are stray cats everywhere, and you will often see the locals stroking them like pets and feeding them food.

Reason Twelve: The Cities

Moroccan cities are often chaotic and crowded but they combine all of the reasons we have listed above for visiting Moroccan. Marrakech is a great place to be introduced to Moroccan culture, while Fez is the cultural centre.

There is a truly long list of reasons why you should visit Morocco for your next holiday – and hopefully the few that we have listed here will encourage you to get in touch with us and book your morocco vip tours for next year.
